At the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, my first programming language was Fortran II on a IBM 1620 computer with punched cards as input and output. So, i would have to wait a day to find out my code had a syntax error. As you might guess, this forced me to write my code on a piece of paper and review it even before punched it on cards!! The first time I wrote a program, I didn't have the chance to test it. LOL I just wrote it because we didn't have a computer.
